Royal Express has announced that it will no longer be delivering delivery packages to New York City in 2019.
The New York Daily News first reported the news, which also included a list of the packages the company will no more be offering.
While Royal Express’s announcement did not directly address the city’s problems with its delivery service, it did say that it would be rethinking how the company does business in the future.
According to a statement released by the company, it “had made the difficult decision to discontinue the delivery service for NYC due to the increased risk of fraud and theft and increased cost of operating in NYC.
While this is a difficult decision for Royal Express, we remain committed to delivering to New Yorkers with integrity, speed, and safety.
We have been in close contact with our customers, including NYC residents, and have made the necessary changes to improve service.
We also have begun work with the New York Police Department to ensure that the City of New York will be fully compliant with all laws related to the delivery of packages.”
In a statement, Royal Express also noted that it is working with the city on “an additional process” to “increase customer safety.”
Royal Express declined to comment on the decision.
